The Lancia Delta Integrale, in all its variants, won six consecutive World Rally Championships from 1987 and 1992, becoming one of the most successful rally cars ever built. In 1993 the Lancia Delta II denominated ABO836 had already entered the showrooms, but the demand for the Lancia Delta HF integrale was still at its highest levels, a real Cash Cow for the Lancia brand. This is when Lancia decided to continue with the production of the ABO831 Series I Lancia Delta and sold the whole production line in Chivasso to the Maggiora family, which continued the Lancia Delta HF production till it ceased by the end of 1994.

Well we're not going to tell you what every car dealer and Lancia Delta history book will tell and that is that the Lancia Delta HF integrale Giallo Ginestra is very rare by any means. To be precise, by the end of the Lancia Delta production, there were different types of "Special Series" build at the Maggiora plant in Chivasso. So, it's hard to give any precise numbers on the total production of the "Giallo Ginestra" or any other "Limited Edition" model which was not numbered. The Giallo stands aside from all these limited series, not even showing the "Limited Edition" badge on the centre console. This implicates cars where build just as a "Special Series" as long demand was high enough to justify the production. Consequently, we can see a lot more of Giallos around the globe, as the media and the internet community assume. Well nevertheless, these cars have a beautiful colour combination, which fits the character of the Delta perfectly and gives them a special status along collectors and enthusiasts.

Let's go a bit deeper into the subject and let's talk about the Delta EVO2 special series. First were the standard colours non-limited or numbered Lancia Delta HF integrale EVO2, such as the Bianco, Blu Lord, Rosso Monza. Second the "Limited Editions" denominated special series, like the "Bianco Perla" the "Blu Lagos" these two non-numbered Editions came with a plate on the centre console, that had a brazen insert, allowing the owner or Dealership to incise whatever they wanted to on top of the brazen insert. Third, the "Numbered Limited Editions" such as the "Dealers Collection" and "Final Edition" these series featured always a designation plate in the middle of the centre console, and an incised number from the factory. Fourth especially at the end of the production run, buyers had the possibility to specify and customize the factory configuration, this way two cars found its way to Switzerland that are one of a kind production cars like the "Bianco - Giallo" and a "Monza - Giallo", both cars where featuring the Giallo Ginestra interior, as a special customer order, a third "Monza - Giallo" that we are aware of, was sold to Japan, but it is meanwhile back on its home turf in Italy. There is more, special orders like the Rosso with black leather interior that went to Greece is one of these bespoke models, which no Lancia Delta history book tells the story about. Documented are also a few prototype colour tests such as the Viola and the Rosa Perla yes that stands for Rose Pearl if you might ask, kind a strange colour combination I’ve to say, cars which had been sold when the Chivasso factory finally closed the doors.

Coming back to our Giallo Ginestra, this car features a full swiss purchase and service history and has now about 64'000 Km definitely one of the better cars you'll ever find in its pristine conditions, no we don't say it's rare ;-) but just a perfect colour for this car and this might be the reason that it is still so sought after, after all these years.
